First time Skiing!

Ok, so it's not my first time.  My first time was last April where the amount of snow around me just dazed me.    That and the act of falling with no control are probably the reasons I never could stop falling every time I moved an inch in the skis.  This year in 2012 I vowed to try again.  Apparently, the lessons from last year stuck because next thing I knew the skis were doing what I wanted and down the bunny slope I went without falling once.  I'd call that quite an achievement :)

Winter Fun

February brought us to Mt. Bachelor near Bend, OR, where we had 4 days of snow! Some were much better than others, but overall what a great introduction to my first full weekend of just snow. Gordon had a blast skiing on a different mountain with new terrains. We did two snowshoeing hikes. One to Todd Lake and one up to the summit of Tumalo (about 1350ft in just over a mile.) Hard but extremely fun. 15 of us were there through the weekend, and Nick fed us with delicious food.

March brought us sun and 60deg weather in San Francisco. We took a walking tour of Berkeley Univ where when we asked where the student store was we kept being directed to the school tour as we were mistaken as prospective students! Got to have delicious tapas at Alegria with Clarissa, Abhishek, Kate, and Mark in San Francisco. Spent a good chunk of the day walking across the Golden Gate Bridge and saw seals fishing in the bay :) Saw "The Thinker" displayed prominently in front of the Art Museum and not in Europe as we had thought. That was a treat. And was super excited to see Maureen and Matt and their new addition, Calvin! Absolutely adorable :D The weekend wrapped up with a very nice walking tour around Alameda with Snow and Laura. The Bay Area has a little of everything and what a treat to just enjoy it for a long weekend with friends.
